Jimi Durso

Bassist, Guitarist, Composer

Composer, bassist and guitarist Jimi "Twang!" Durso is the founder of the band Piltdown Man, and has performed with Ray Anderson, John Faddis and John Abercrombie, and recorded with Tim Berne. He was designated a Finalist in the Jazz Composers Alliance/Julius Hemphill Composition Awards in the Small Ensemble Category for two consecutive years (2000 and 2001).


Jimi Durso co-founded the National Boulevard Jazz Group in 2002, where he plays guitar and contributes most of the original music. He performs regularly with other musicians in the New York City area, including as a substitute bassist for the well-known ska group, The Toasters.
